Woven (2021)

A collection of Australian story-songs.

I am just one thread in this vast tapestry of Australia – a vivid and dramatically-hued weaving of ancient people and new, resilience and brokenness, grace and selfishness, joy and tragedy, Spirit and body, untold beauty and harsh extremes, magnificent human endeavours and tragic wastes. Even within me are these same tangles of vibrantly contrasting threads, along with those of the people and places that have impacted me all though my days.

I would like to acknowledge the Wiradjuri people as the traditional owners and custodians of the land on which I live and create.

“There is real emotional and narrative depth to this beautifully recorded album. The more you listen, the more you find. A thinking, feeling woman’s take on life, love and family in an Australian town.”

– Fred Smith

“Nerida writes with emotional maturity of her own life experiences and those of close friends – stories of hurt, repression, strength and resilience and, woven throughout, the healing power of nature. The songs are mostly about women and one line in particular “Show me a mountain and I’ll move it” is a testament to the human spirit.”

– Margaret Walters

“Nerida lives and breathes the landscape of central western New South Wales – as Australian as fencing wire – but the themes are universal. Nerida’s songs are enriched by her warm tones and clear diction and are complemented on her album by tasteful accompaniments and harmonies.”

– Margaret Walters

“Nerida’s new album is so good, …so diverse, great backing vocals and instruments. It’s like you are there in the bush travelling with her though her songs”

– Terry Helyar – (Songs from the Caravan project, UK)
